TAIWAN: We have signed a cooperation agreement with Chu-Lin Private High school in Taiwan.

From Sunday, January 12 to Tuesday 14, Principal Tamogami and English teacher Mr. Shunsuke Nakamura traveled to Taiwan. The purpose of this overseas business trip was to visit the Board of Education in Taiwan and create an exchange agreement between Itsukaichi High School and a private junior/senior high school in New Taipei City.

On the morning of Monday, the 13th, the agreement with Chu-Lin Private High School was signed. During the meeting, we shared each other’s school characteristics and special features.

1,800 students in six different grades are enrolled at Chu-Lin Junior and Senior High school. It is actually a large school with 140 teachers and about four times the number of students and teachers at Itsukaichi High School. Most of the graders in Chu-Lin High School continue their studies at universities.

For those who are interested , interchange will be conducted through Skype and through the school website. Skype software will soon be installed in the PC room, so after the installation, we will conduct an English communication exchange with Chu-Lin Private High School.

There is an hour time difference from Taiwan, so if is 4:00pm in Japan, it will be 3:00pm in Taiwan. Taiwanese high schools conduct classes on weekdays from 8:10 to 5:30pm, so it is not possible to communicate unless you choose the right time.

From now on, we will make final adjustments, recruit students for exchange, and continue to promote exchange with Chu-Lin Private High School. We hope everyone here at Itsukaichi High School is looking forward to this exciting opportunity.

In the afternoon of Monday, the 13th, we paid a visit to the Board of Education in Taiwan.

This visit came about from the relationship between Mr. Shunsuke Nakamura of Itsukaichi and Mr. Yoshihide Hayashi of the ministry of Education in Taiwan. Before Mr. Nakamura joined Itsukaichi, two years ago, he had engaged in international exchange with Mr. Hayashi while working at the Board of Education in Japan, they had worked together in an international exchange for several years at the Board of Education in Japan.

Mr. Hayashi stated that he would fully cooperate with the exchange agreement between Itsukaichi High School and other high schools in Taiwan. Principal Tamogami and Mr. Nakamura found this to be very encouraging.

During this visit, as a symbol of the start of our cooperation, we brought crafts handmade in Akiruno City to Chu-Lin Private High School.

This lamp, made in Akiruno City by local craftsman Mr. Matomi Sato, has been created using Tama cedar, oak, and Mino paper, handmade Japanese paper that has been presented to the Imperial family in the past.

This gift conveys the charm and local technology of Akiruno City. It will gently light the space where Taiwanese students spend their days.
